Jason Aluia

Jason is a seasoned State House leader with more than 25 years of experience at the intersection of public policy, legislative strategy, and high-stakes advocacy in Massachusetts.
He most recently served as Vice President of Government and External Affairs at the Massachusetts Association of Health Plans (MAHP), where he directed the organization’s state government affairs strategy for over a decade. In that role, Jason represented the Commonwealth’s leading health plans before the Legislature, the Executive Branch, and state regulators, shaping major policy debates around coverage, cost containment, MassHealth, and health system reform. He worked closely with member executives to translate business priorities into effective legislative strategy, positioning the industry as a central stakeholder in Massachusetts’ nationally recognized health care policy framework.
Earlier in his career, Jason served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director to former House Speaker Salvatore F. DiMasi. In that capacity, he helped manage the House’s legislative agenda and played a central role in drafting and advancing landmark legislation, including the Commonwealth’s 2006 Health Care Reform Act, the Stem Cell Research Authorization Act, the Mental Health Parity Act, the Green Communities Act and enshrining Marriage Equality for all. His work during this period helped shape foundational policy frameworks that continue to influence Massachusetts law today.
Jason attended Suffolk University focusing on Public Policy and he remains deeply engaged in civic and community leadership. He serves as Chairman of the Ward 3 Democratic Committee in Boston and as Chairman of the Board of Directors for NEW Health, a federally qualified health center serving the North End, Waterfront, and Charlestown neighborhoods. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus, the Boston Public Market and the Boston Municipal Research Bureau.
